A Death That Should Not Have Happened (spoilers)

Barbara Carrera's character Lola should not have been killed.
She risked her life defending McQuade against the bad guys.
She was intelligent, she loved him, she saved his daughter's
life several times, she cleaned his messy house. Her death
was not necessary for the plot -- his ex-wife was still
moving to Wisconsin, and still didn't want to be a part of
his dangerous life. Carrera's character did. She was a
very good woman, a very important character in the story,
and there was no reason why she should have been killed by
a stray bullet. That lessened the value of the whole movie.

It tells female viewers that even if they are smart and
courageous, and play a major role in overcoming evil,
it doesn't matter -- it will all be for nothing. This
is an aspect of human culture that needs to be changed.

havent seen this movie in ages. i forgot that she dies in it.
i agree, that's a pretty stupid and unnecessary death

I disagree with you about it sending a negative message to women or human culture needs a change. I think you met be reading way too much into that.

I will agree the biggest flaw was killing her off because it added nothing and was for cheap shock value. I also felt that way for Apollo Creed in Rocky 4. I wish writers would learn never kill a great character for no good reason. Her being shot in the shoulder would have made the point but ending with her still alive would be better.

Her"acting" was very very bad. They should have shot her in the beginning..

It also give people a lesson that real life is random as *beep* and it don't care who you are or what you have done. What do you think, that people who are shot or people who die of cancer are somehow ALL bad people and that bad things NEVER happen to good people? That is how life is. No one says its fair. What happened in this movie is just as random as real life. What you suggest is as much a load of bull as telling kids to pray hard every night and good things will happen to them no matter what.

she was acting innocent, basically using her feminine wyles on whoever was in a better position in the moment,
she was aware of Carradine's criminal ways, yet still clung to him & even sensually kissed him (before moving on to Chuck, who she felt was a stronger man),
even after going steady with Chuck, she still hung around David & was at the secret munitions
hideout where David intended on killing Chuck,
no reason to allow her to live
