I'm endeared for life to this film (since first encountering it back in the 80s), and even I'd not go so far as to make such a claim as this. Though the killjoy nay-sayers here can't seem to be able to look past their opinions of supposedly "bad" acting (I often have to emphasize to folks that Jimmy & Margaret are portrayed by the same thespian!!) and bask in some very wry repartee as well as the "round-robin" scene cuts that one cannot fully appreciate with a mere single view.

Charming and decadent comfort food it surely is, though~

Actually right up there with one of the worst ever, wow. A really, really bad movie. I saw it in Boston where most avant garde movies do really well and 3/4 of the patrons left in the first 30 min.

that's interesting, because when i saw it in dc i can't remember a single person walking out.

just watched it again the other day, for probably the dozenth time. it does start out very slowly, and the music can drive you insane if you let it. but once you get past that it has a novel premise, some interesting observations to make, some very good acting (especially by jimmy and margaret!), some fun sight gags, and plenty of humor.

having just watched "the room" in its entirety, i can guarantee this isn't the worst movie ever. :)

It's long been one of my favourites. I've seen it several times on big screen, always with a rapt, attentive audience. Great, great film.
