So if he opposes his own death it will bring great pain upon himself but yet when he decides to come help them get in the black fortress he was not in any pain. I love this movie but that part is funny that he showed no pain like Titch said he was supposed to feel.

I think his coming to their rescue (and his subsequent death as a result) in the Black Fortress was his destiny. He saw that, knew it to be and fulfilled it. I don't believe that was supposed to be him defying it.

Just the way it was spoken always made me laugh a little, like he was to remain behind because he was going to die not show up at the last minute to help them then die. Lol
