De Niro's best performance?

I think so. Anyone else agree?

It's not really a best performance script.

I'd go for Deer Hunter (the scenes back in the US) or Once Upon a Time in America (when he's old) as his best acting.

I'll be honest, I love him in Ronin but that's just me... it's not exactly Mean Streets!

But the Reno/De Niro relationship is one of my favourite in any movie ever.

very hard to top his performance in king of comedy. he was just amazing in this.

reply

It probably his most underrated performance.

I can definitely agree with this.

I agree.

Has to be top 5 along with Vito Corleone, Travis Bickle, Jake LaMotta + Jimmy Conway.

I was going to say top 3 but I just couldn't bring myself to drop any of the other 4.

Nevertheless, there can be no argument that this is a superlative performance from arguably the greatest actor of the last 50 years.

Me too. He was absolutely brilliant. His character was funny and very annoying at the same time. Very underrated, indeed.

I wonder if The Big Bang Theory copied the "shouting" realtionship berween Howard Hollowitz and his mom...

I'm so excited, I think I'll brush all my teeth today!

I'd be hard pressed to choose between KING OF COMEDY, TAXI DRIVER, or RAGING BULL as De Niro's best performances.

The point is that Scorcese really managed to bring out the best of De Niro's talent. Nowadays, De Niro does bilge like "Meet the Fokkers". You watch De Niro in the 70's and early 80's versus today, and it's as though you're watching two completely different people.

I think his best performance is either Raging Bull or Casino but is also amazing in Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, Goodfellas and The Deer Hunter.

Some of my favorites are also Midnight Run and Jackie Brown.

He was very good in "Silverlining Playbook(2012)"

Yes, I think it probably is.

You all forgot This Boys Life. One of the best performances. Most def. Casino and Taxi Driver as well which have been mentioned.

He was also great in Brazil, albeit that his appearances throughout were not many.

Casino in my humble opinion, but brilliant in this (as echoed)!

I saw this movie before I really know who he was, and this was the movie that really made me aware of him and how great an actor he is.

I agree but also check out Jacknife

Loved him in Heat, Casino and the Deer Hunter. Nice to see him in less stereotypical role in films like KOC though.
