DVD please!

I'm hoping that Greydon Clark gets up the gumption to release this (and his other trashy masterpieces) on DVD. This movie ranks up there with the worst movies ever made in the 80s, and that alone makes it rule!

reply

I agree, I found an old VHS copy and it has not aged well.
This film has been unjustly ignored.

I picked up a bootleg-looking DVD, they sell them here and there in the Netherlands. It's released by "Video Entertainment", at least that logo is on the cover, and it looks like they just scanned the original VHS cover and put DVD logos on it.

reply

a DVD label just licensed it for a release next year, so I guess they will lose alot of money! he he he

I've got an idea, get yourself some soft porn on DVD and an old Atari 2600 with a copy of space invaders, play it while you watch the porn, it'll pretty much be the same, only the porn will probably have a better storyline.

reply

Nah. That wouldn't be as nostalgic as watching the real deal. Besides, the 2600 was a piece of crap. Coinops were the REAL deal, baby!

reply

You're so right, and I'm soooooo ashamed to have said that, as I was deadly serious.

I've seen in on bit torrent (laserdisc).

I can't believe this flick still isn't on DVD! One of the better bad T&A comedies of the early '80s. Ya might bug Anchor Bay to release it -- they take suggestions from fans for movies to release ([email protected]).

Actually, Amazon.com now lists it as being released on July 11, 2006. If this doesn't materialize, PDTV will produce our own version, but it'll have to be from an existing analog source. The studio listed on Amazon is "Guilty Pleasures", so I don't know if that's an arm of Anchor Bay or not. At any rate, we should see this released soon. Hooray! :)

reply

Guilty Pleasures is a "brand" from Mediablasters (like what they do with Tokyo Shock, Shriek Show, AnimeWorks etc)...

reply

Hmm, not familiar with those either, but it gives me something to Google. Thanks

Looks like they didn't get a very good rating over at DVD Verdict, but as long as it's a pressed DVD it'll be worth having, even if it's just a VHS transfer, which it seems it might be. Unfortunately their website is nearly impossible to navigate, and there's no link to e-mail them about upcoming releases. JOY STICKS is not listed on their site anywhere, even on the "Guilty Pleasures" page.

Anybody have an e-mail address for these bozos? Thanks in advance.

Just checked Amazon for this now were pushed back to Oct 31st 2006 for a release.

reply

Yes, its official release is July 11th 2006, put out under the label "Guilty Pleasures", a label of Media Blasters. UPC is 631595060454.

reply

Most sites are showing the DVD's release date as October 31st now.

Media Blasters hardly ever makes their announced release dates anymore, so it's hardly surprising.

reply

Well, it gets even worse-- they may very well be going out of business-- major layoffs at Media Blasters last week.

The July date I mentioned is official-- I deal with these things on a professional level, but given the aforementioned layoffs, it may never happen anyways.

reply

As was I :)

Any movie that has a scene in which a weiner goes flying through the air and gets stuck between two big boobies automatically gets to be on DVD. It has to be in a contract somewhere.

The strange thing is, its also scheduled for release tomorrow (Oct 31) by Guilty Pleasures, a division of Media Blasters. What is going on? Is this movie public domain?

reply

No, I don't think it's public domain. In fact, it seems that the rights must be in dispute or something, because the Amazon listing for the Media Blasters version is now gone, and all you get now is the listing for the Dec. 5th release with completely different cover art. I'm really starting to wonder if this is ever coming to DVD at all!!!

reply

It's coming. I just pre-ordered a copy. The street date is 12/5/06 as posted before earlier. It's coming out for $14.95 retail on Genius. I have the full color dvd promo add right in front of me. Can't wait for this!

reply

Yes, and it was coming from MediaBlasters today. I could have pre-ordered it long ago, but today I would have received an e-mail message from Amazon saying "We're sorry, but pre-orders for this item have been cancelled. Your payment will be refunded as soon as possible." BEST BUY lists both versions on their website, but of course the MediaBlasters version is listed as "Backordered" and the new version is listed as "Pre-Order". Pre-order means virtually nothing unless the DVD is actually RELEASED. Like I said, I could have pre-ordered the MediaBlasters version, but it doesn't mean I'm guaranteed to get it.

If December 5th passes with no DVD release, you can bet that work will resume on the PDTV version.
