Where is the dvd?
this movie is not accessable at all.why is this?
shareI'd like to see more films by/with Zdenek Sverak and I think this would be a good one. However, all I can find is Kolya.
American's have a bit of a thing against foreign movies, so its next to impossible to find anything. For Czech films in general I suggest you try "Facets film" (in Chicago, but they have a mail rental service), I saw this and a number of other Sverak films when I was in the Czech Republic, but that may be a bit out of the way for some people. Empties should be coming to America soon (the most recent father/son work after Kolya).
I also suggest Dissolved and Effused film made from a play "written" by Cimrman. Sverak has only a small role but he wrote... lets say the screenplay...
I don't think you'll find it in the US though.
If you can't find Sverak movies try for Menzel movies, they have a similar sense of humor to them. Though Menzel is a bit more of a virtuoso director, and a bit less funny.
You really think Empties will be coming to the U.S. soon? Wasn't it released only in Czech Republic and France? I'd like to find Tatinek and Elementary School as well, but no luck so far. I'll try Facets film; thanks for the tip.
