Bette Davis Was Right! Some Pictures Should Never be Remade

Miss Davis once remarked ( growled) Some Pictures Should Never Be Remade. What motivation was there to re make the great Susan Hayward movie I Want To Live and to star the 'Sleeping Bed' Lady Lindsay Wagner...do not get confused with the classic and do not expect anything from this version.

The purpose of movies has always been to get a financial return on an investment. This was a made-for-TV-movie which starred a then popular TV actress. People tuned in to see it, and some became aware of the real life story it depicts...and perhaps reconsidered where they stood on the Death Penalty.

Rebroadcasting the Susan Hayward original in prime time in 1983 would have attracted few viewers.

Bette Davis appeared in remakes in her day, as well...and for the same reason this TV version was produced: to draw an audience and keep working steadily.
