Different Versions

I saw this in the 80s and loved it.

I recently bought a copy on DVD and, oh my God, there are sequences in there I've never seen before. Most notably the zombie dance routine at the fair.

Anyone know why I saw a shorter version? Was it cut for the UK video release or something?

PS -- I think I prefer the cut I saw originally, but it was great to catch up with it after so lone.

I never saw the zombie dance routine either when this movie used to be on t.v. My guess is that it was a scene edited out that was added back to the dvd version (which I also have.)

The original VHS release in America had the zombie dance routine cut out, I was thrilled to see it put back in for the DVD release.

The circus dance sequence was there for the theatrical release, but cut for cable and video. Once DVDs came around the missing scenes were put back in :-)

Nope it wasn't cut out on cable because I saw it on HBO and Encore when they showed the movie.

That's where I first saw it, but saw no Zombie dance at the circus sequence.

Ah, there was a laserdisc release in the 80's that featured the "Zomboogie" dance sequence. I didn't remember seeing that scene on cable TV; and was surprised to see it on the laserdisc! What a crazy scene!

Probably some dummy either wanted to cut the film down for more commercials or...they thought they'd be accused of ripping off Michael Jackson's "Thriller"

Even though this came out in July of '83 and "Thriller" in December of that year.

(December? They couldn't start a few weeks earlier and get it released for Halloween?)

I finally saw the dance sequence, which I didn't remember from cable in the 80's. I thought it was an obvious ode to Thriller, but I guess Thriller came second. It's very eerie lol. Classic movie.
