There's not even effective "jump scares" or atmosphere. 5.8 is pretty high for this flick. I've been doing slasher marathons and this is pretty bad...I rank it probably the lowest of the ones I've seen (even ones I am not crazy about, like The Prowler, Happy Birthday To Me, April Fool's Day, and Friday the 13th Part III)...
shareI would have to agree about the lame kills part of your post. Why make a slasher and not show the killings onscreen? I understand that some films had a limited/small budget so they couldn't go hog wild in the effects department. But, then again, I've noticed a trend in horror flicks over the decades. When a male character dies the movie usually shows the death onscreen. But when a female character dies a lot of times you don't see the actual death. My personal favorite is when the killer corners a girl, raises the weapon then the girl screams and the movie cuts away before anything happens. Pretty lame IMO. Kind of like watching a Japanese adult movie with the censored genitals.

shareReally? I have gone through so many horror that I can't even make it through and I thought this was pretty good. At least deserving of the 5.8.
