I don't think you can do better than the original cast. I mean John Carradine, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price & Peter Cushing were four of the best at making Horror movies back in the day and they each bring a certain presence to the roles. Alas of the four only Mr. Lee is still with us today.
This isn't the original version. I know that there were at least six versions done in the teens, twenties, thirties, and forties. I've seen four of those versions. Two other versions are considered to be lost films. This movie is based on Earl Derr Biggers' novel "Seven Keys to Baldpate", which was published nearly 100 years ago.

I would cast Kris Lemche (FD3, The Frankenstein Theory) as Kenneth Magee and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Thing, Black Christmas) as the main girl. The other couple would be Sarah Michelle Gellar (I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Kyle Gallner (Elm Street remake, Haunting in Connecticut).
