The worst movie ever made

This is the worst movie I've ever seen.
It was so damn bad that it wasn't even funny anymore... Theres no point in seeing this at all, it only pisses me off :@
How the hell can this one not be on the #250 worst movies of all times?

If this is truly the worst you've seen, I envy you - you definitely need to get out and see more movies! Did you catch "The Mangler"? How about "Anthropophagous" (a.k.a. "The Grim Reaper")? "The Loch Ness Horror"? "The Curious Case of the Campous Corpse" (a.k.a. "The Hazing")? I don't deny that there's plenty wrong with the film, nor can I honestly say that I wasn't a bit disappointed for several reasons - but there are certainly worse things waiting. Try anything by Larry Buchanan or Ted V. Mikels or Fred Olen Ray. Take a gander at "Don't Go Into the Woods", and "House of the Long Shadows" starts to look pretty good.

But it could have been vastly improved by casting anyone other than Desi Arnaz, Jr.

You missed a couple of films in that list. How about Carnage, House By The Cemetary, Don't Answer The Phone and Beyond The Door. All three of them. Then there are any of the Children of the Corn films. Those are just God awful. Any of the Prom Night sequels. I'm sure there are more that aren't coming to mind. As for House of Long Shadows being the worst movie ever made. Sir, I highly doubt that. This might not be a classic, but it sure beats a lot of other crap out there.

reply

It's certainly not the worst film ever made, nor is it the best. But the pleasue in seeing three horror icons together more than makes up for the film's (numerous) shortcomings. Price! Cushing! Lee! At the same time!!!

Always enjoyable, despite the efforts of the younger members of the cast.

reply

You forgot both "Green Slime" and "Invasion of the Saucer Men." Now those were two that are pretty bad, though GS is so bad it's funny. And there is "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

I really hate when someone says a movie is "the worst ever made." Clearly, that poster has such a very limited knowledge of film, but he/she feels compelled to state an opinion developed without much knowledge of the history of film. In the 100+ years of filmmaking, there has been a lot of crap, but citing only one film as the "worst ever made" shows one's ignorance--or youth.

reply

Don't be silly. No film with such talented character actors can be too bad. Cushing, Lee and Price might have been in poor films sometimes but they were never bad. Quite the opposite.
Some people obviously don't know what a bad film really is. It's very shallow to offer a knee-jerk reaction every time you're not keen on a film.
'House of the Long Shadows' is no classic but it's a million miles away from being the worst film ever. I repeat, DON'T BE SILLY.

reply

You all are forgetting John Carradine, another Horror Icon.

reply

Do you even know who starred in this movie?

reply

You really need to see more films before judging this as the worst ever. HOTLS is really a vehicle for its 4 horror icons and all of them especially Vincent Price are on top form throughout. Agreed the film is full of plotholes and inconsistances but the worst film ever it is certainly not.

reply

Are you kidding? This is one of the best films ever made with four of the greatest Horror actors of all time! Perhaps you are only looking for blood and splatter effects in horror movies. That would explain your opinion!

reply

Well said, Sucram.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. So entertaining. Love the tongue-in-cheek humor. A delight to see all these horror stars in one movie.

reply

Finally! Someone on these boards who understands the concept of "tougue-in-cheek". Price, Cushing, Lee, et al, did not set out to make the definitive horror movie here. It's essentially a "movie within a movie", to which the end of the movie attests. It's a pretty nifty plot twist that's obviously fooled a lot of people. Not that it hasn't been used as a plot device before and since. I found the film high camp and the ending hysterical!

reply

What a unique clever post! And how enlightening! I'd always wondered what the worst movie ever made was. Now I know. How can I thank you? From now on, however bad a movie may be I'll at least know its not the worst.

reply

Yes, obiously since you don't like the film it must be the worst film ever made, and it must belong on the 250 worst movies list...

My head hurts, my teeth itch, my feet stink, and I don't love Jesus.

It may not be the worst, but it's pretty bad and wastes the opportunity of having these four icons together! You have Price, Lee, Cushing and Carradine and the best you can come up with is this silly paffle? C'mon! He has a point! Stop apologizing for this sub-standard film.
