Type of Car in 1st Street Race?

I absolutely loved the car Bonnie Bedelia races against the little hot rod, (which looked kind of like the 30's Ford coupe John Milner drove in American Graffiti).

The scene I'm speaking of is, I think, her very 1st street race, where she convinces her reluctant husband to let her drive. I always love the part where they drive up to the starting line together, then the husband gets out & Shirley scoots over behind the wheel. Classic!

Anyway, from memory, it was a blue & silver 2-door coupe. I think it might be a 40's Chevy of some sort, but can't narrow it down anymore than that. (And not even sure if I'm totally off-base here. I guess it could be a Ford or something else.)

Can somebody set me straight???
