The Applepeeler Scene

I haven't seen this movie in about ten years, but I consider it in the Top Five small-movies EVER.This movie is extremely scene-centric.His sister takes him into her home(solely because she is his sister) when he is released from prison;he quits his mainstream(and dull) job because it is dull(and mainstream?),and drifts away(to CANADA!)He gets EXTREMELY irritated at the youngpunk wannabe;resists/surrenders to the old aquantance/gangster;becomes enamored-with/slightly contempteous-of('depends on which side of the rifle you're on')the protoestablishmentarian;and gets inspired by "The Great Train Robbery" at the theater. And,of course, the apple-peeler scene.

I thought the apple peeler device was genius! The film's scenes are beautifully framed and seeing it for the first time more than 30 years since its release, I feel nostalgic for times past.

A bird sings and the mountain's silence deepens.
