Why no dvd for Grey Fox?

Without a doubt, one of the best period pieces ever made. Much junk has been placed on dvd, why not this great movie? Farnsworth, along with Sam Elliott portray men of the real old west like no other.

Yes. Been waiting for ages. The morons must be too busy with the soft money from the sheeple and the dumb kids.

It's simple: people who wear suits like to have meetings and make stupid decisions. The lack of "The Grey Fox" on DVD is one of them.

Is there any place you can vote for a release?

Can we all agree to send an email to MERCURY PRODUCTIONS and UNITED ARTISTS?
Those names were listed somewhere on Amazon as the production and distribution companies, but I can't seem to find that page again.

Richard Farnsworth (deceased) truly DESERVES a DVD release of "The Grey Fox."

Also, everyone should go to Amazon's page for "The Grey Fox" and click on LIKE next to the title.
If enough people do this, someone might get the message.

This is why I have no qualms about pirating.

I would guess that a DVD release is being upheld over some music rights issues. It's a bummer, but it happens sometimes. Some deceased person's estate (i.e. someone who was connected to the film--their relative) is usually to blame.

Richard Farnsworth is amazing. He has such screen presence.
A bird sings and the mountain's silence deepens.

I just purchased and am currently watching what appears to be this particular DVD release. The picture quality is TERRIBLE! I should've bought a VHS copy, it couldn't have been worse and would have been much cheaper.
It IS a shame that the studio hasn't released this on a quality DVD. I saw this 34 years ago, and I'll keep looking.

rcwkr: The "DVD Release" to which you refer is simply an amateurish capture of the VHS release of "The Grey Fox". I also purchased this DVD, but was glad I did - and here's why:

Many years ago, I had also purchased a copy of the VHS release, but between age and zillions of replays, some of the video on my VHS tape had dropout segments. At least, the DVD had continuous video throughout the course of the entire movie. However, it also contained numerous Clicks, Pops, and Other Rancid Noise (that possibly/probably were present in the original VHS Master Source).

Here is a measure of my love of "The Grey Fox":
1. Captured the video & audio from the DVD. (Easy on a Mac...)
2. Captured the audio from my VHS (Ditto).
3. Edited the video to Lower Contrast & Color-Correct (both due to aging VHS.)
4. Edited the audio - second-by-second - to eliminate NOISE! (Took 20 hours.)
5. Recombined Vid&Aud to make a video/audio-correct movie.
6. Saved this movie as my Reference Copy.

Sorry, I have no copyright agreement with the owner, so I am unable to release this updated copy of "The Grey Fox". The reason why a REAL DVD copy of this movie is not available lies in the minds of Media Moguls who doubtless think that "adam sandler" is funny...
