I admit it..

I've been wanting too see this movie for a while now and whenever i have asked people who had seen it if they liked it each just replied 'It's ok if you like that sort of thing' what kind of an answer is that anyway!?

So I went out last weekend and bought it, before I watched it I came on here and saw all of the negativity towards it. Anyway I decided to watch it with an open-mind and hav come to the conclusin...

It's exceedingly sh!t
But for some reason I love it, it must one of those 'so bad it's good films'.
Anyone else feel the same?

It really bothers me that people knock this movie...what people fail to know or remember is that this movie hit at a time when we were just coming off the Disco dance craze and the Urban cowboy line dancing...This movie introduced a new and exciting dance call street dancing and ultimately break dancing...The concept was edgy and the not to mention that it gave us a new reason to tear up our sweatshirts and have a "new" style of clothes so to speak. It was all the rage in 1983 and yes almost 25 years later the "look" of leg warmers and off the shoulders is making a comeback...crazy how opinions of this movie run the spectrum.....what a feeling.....

The fact that this movie set trends does not make it good.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS ON DVD

It can be said Flashdance had great dance sequences in terms of mise en scene, however this is a film which can be described as style over substance. The characterisations were somewhat thin, some relationships (like the friendship between Alex and Jeanie) would have been further explored.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

I finally got a chance to watch it too....and Girls Just Want to Have Fun (yes) has a much better storyline. This was meh. seemed like it was aiming for either the older guy or the 6 year old girl--between the leggings/dancing and the being in the adult club.
