NOT an "overdose"

Storyline

Yolanda sings in a seedy nightclub. When her boyfriend dies of an overdose, she fears the police and seeks refuge ...
The same error is repeated in several of the posted reviews.

Per the English subtitles, where Lola, dressed in black leather, arrives at the convent:
--Nun answering the door: I was expecting you the day before yesterday.
--Lola: There was a big *beep* (edit: [f k-up])
--Abbess: Hello, Lola. Lovely to see you. Come with me. ... Well?
--Lola: Remember the girl you liked so much? She was a singer. Yolanda.
--Abbess: Yes. Well?
--Lola: Her boyfriend's dead. Heroin with strychnine.
--Abbess: Sit down.
--Lola: Someone else died too, and the cops are after her. But she's done a runner.
--Abbess: Really?
--Lola: We must be careful, they're raiding everywhere. I only hope they catch the bastard who's pushing it!
--Abbess: You think she was involved with it?
--Lola: I don't know. She was his chick. And she did a bit of dealing. So the cops want to find her and rough her up a bit.
--Abbess pointing to what Lola has brought for her: Is this all right?
--Lola: One of my pals is a chemist and he checks all my stuff. I'll snort some to prove it.
--Abbess: No, I trust you.
--Lola: I will, anyway.
[etc]

And the newspaper article that Yolanda looks at - "Drug addict found dead in his apartment" - is pretty hard to read exactly, but it does specifically say "heroin mixed with strychnine". The final paragraph says this was the third death.

It wasn't an "overdose" of heroin at all that killed him. Someone had deliberately mixed strychnine into it. (In reality, strychnine does not kill instantaneously and cleanly as depicted in the film. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strychnine_poisoning).
