What was that song??

In the scene where Rita walks into the pub, and her family and friends are sitting at that big table singing to that song on the duke-box. I think it went something like 'I'm so happy, I'm so happy, we're so happy ... together! That's ok!' Dose anyone know what it's called - it's really catchy.
Thanx.

I don't know what its called but I totally agree with you. It might be on the end credits perhaps. When I next watch it, I'll be sure to 'message' you back on that one.

There appears to be some mystery about it. On the credits the song is simple referred to as 'The Pub Song' written AND performed by Stephen Gilbert. When Rita walks into the pub you can hear the track in the background and then everyone in the pub joins in.

Checked his name out on the internet. He is apparently some relation to the Director Lewis Gilbert. The song doesn't seem to have ever been released. Who knows! There seems to be a lot of interest in it though and rightly so.

Oh. That's a bit annoying - I was hoping to buy it! Oh well, thanx for your help.

Hey, I specifically joined IMDB to find out the answer to this question too! I saw this movie again after a long period and now I can't get that song out of my head!

Help somebody!

From what I've learnt - there is no song =-(

Well, that makes two! I'm watching the movie right now on Belgian National Broadcasting and I was thinking: "This movie has the most horrible sounding eighties soundtrack", untill... the scene in the bar! What was that? What is this tune? It blew me off my feet. Thes things happen to me more times, but it can differ from Johhny Cash to early Nirvana or PIL, or whatever. But this... it reminded me a bit of the atmosphere in "Distant Voices, Still Lives", aa really beatiful tune.

So I joined up to the IMDB (which I think is great!!)

cheers!

I watched it to on belgian national broadcasting (but i never tought that is called like that) anyway, i must disagree with you. not about the pub song because that was great, but about the rest you said. the soundtrack is not "horrible sounding eighties"!!! I tought it was great. it really gave me a feeling like i was in the eighties. and i liked that because it seems like a wonderfull time. (i was born in 1987 so i didn't saw much of it) and that soundtrack made me feel like i was ment to be in the eighties. i know it sounds weird, but that was verry strange to have this feeling.

Right on, mate. The soundtrack to Educating Rita is fantastic. Any good soundtrack worth its salt should make you feel like the decade it was made in. I think some people tend to dislike it because it is on synth, but heck that makes it even better in my book. We need to cherish movies like this, cos we wont look upon their like again, sadly.

It sounds very similiar to "Telegraph" by OMD which was played on our pub jukebox all the time about the same time the movie was released

It is just called 'pub song' and is not available anywhere, I have looked for many a year.
