A couple of weeks ago I was in the area where alot of the movie was shot and the building that housed the club they played in at the Jersey Shore was a big pile of rubble. Tony Mart's itself went away in the late 70's but the building housed many clubs but now it's gone.

Rockhound......I think you may have seen something other than the original spot where Tony Marts used to be....there is no pile of rubble..there is an entirely different restaurant in place of Tony Marts...by the way,I have videos taken on 8mm film of my band Uproar performing there in 1973 and 1974!!!...Ill make them available to you when I complete the video and dvd transfers,if you like...take care...Tommy Zito of Uproar and Magnum

Okay...lets straighten this out once and for all.... The actual Tony Mart's building doesn't exist any more. It was actually reopened just to film the movie. It was torn down a couple of years later and a new establishment was built (which has now been vacant for years).
Another piece of trivia...the house where they started playing "On the Darkside" is about 3 houses down from where Tony Mart's once sat.
Wasn't Tony Marts on the circle? I just had dinner at The Crab Shack and I didn't even look in that direction. But, isn't it almost across the circle from the Crab Shack?
