in 1984 or 85,i rented the cruisers.Some of the scenes in what you call the first movie have been changed.Specifically,where "eddie"is talking to "Sal". In the movie i rented ,eddie was talking to Frank Ridgeway on the beach.Even the background in the scene with sal is fake! Does anyone know where the"FIRST"movie is?
shareThe first movie that exactly matched the Video tape can be purchased from Amazon when you buy the set which contains the first movie and the second. I ordered them a weeek ago and did a comparison side by side of the two movies. It is the original. For some reason if you buy the movie buy itsself some scenes are changed. Hope this helps.
shareI think it had to do with money. Tom Berenger probably wanted a hefty fee for his image to be used in the sequel, so they changed the scene - and it looks like Sal is wearing a wig in that shot also!

I am confused by your question. The sequel :" Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives", I thought came out much later than 84 or 85. The altered Beach scenes are from The Sequel. The original Film is "Eddie and The Cruisers". I'm sure that doesn't help, but get back to me if you need any more info. I have seen both Movies many, many times.
