The ending... (MAJOR SPOILERS!)

If this movie confused you, then this might help. For people who haven't seen this movie, then you probably don't want to read this. I think I've figured out the movie well enough to the point that I could explain it, but this movie had so many plot holes that it's hard to fully understand most of the movie.

The old man at the beginning of the movie (presumably) taps into Alicia's phone so that he causes the loud electronic sound to go off when he would call her. The plot with Franklin has absolutely nothing to do with the old man, or the phone just to mention. During the middle of the movie, there is a reporter on the radio that says that a murderer is on the loose who kills people after the victim receives an obscene phone call from the killer. After Franklin is shot by the police, Alicia receives more and more phone calls until she breaks her phone. Then, she hears the electronic sound behind her, and she spins around... The next morning, we see the old man (the same one that was in her apartment at the beginning of the morning) leaving her apartment. Okay, here is how it all seems to me.

The old man is the killer that is mentioned on the radio, not Franklin because after Franklin dies, the phone calls continue. After Alicia breaks her phone (due to going hysterical from the electronic sound), and she hears the electronic sound again, she spins around to find the old man in her apartment. When she realizes he's in her apartment, he murders her. He leaves the apartment the next morning while we are given no clue as to what happened to Alicia but her fate is pretty much clear.

Ha, made you look!

**SPOILER ALERT**

Thanks for the recap. I thought that's what happened, but I found the low budget and bad acting so distracting that I wasn't sure I caught all the clues .

It's obvious, there was some thought that went into this script, but they failed to secure enough financing to do it justice. (6 out of 10)

6/10 is very generous, are you saying this is above average horror flick?

I thought the film was in one childish word LAME. The acting was bad and the ending easy to understand but just plain pointless. Why would anyone be under the impression one of the twins commited the Murder as the film synopsis suggests?

Yes, it was generous of me.

I have been watching literally dozens of low budget eighties films over the last two years and it has been, for the most part, an endurance test. Many of these films were not cheesy in a good way at all, just badly made. "Disconnected" at least attempted to bring something thought provoking to it's audience and this is the reason I didn't rate the movie below five.

I think i have been doing the same as you, trolling through many many 70s and 80s horror films

With this one i found it hard to get involved and found myself being easily distracted as someone else said on here i felt disconnected with the film. But each to there own.

I watched Ghost Town after that. this was also a strange one, Horror Comedy i think but worth the watch. No doubt you have already seen this?

LOL! Yeah, there seems to be a few of us "trolling" through these 70s and 80s films. Thanks for reminding me of that. I was almost ready to throw the towel in, but now I've decided to trudge through to the bitter end!

I sold my VHS copy of "Ghost Town" a couple of years back. Fortunately I saw it uploaded on a YouTube channel and will probably watch it again.

The movie was an interesting mess, but still a mess. It didn't know if it wan't to be the next Maniac or Repulsion and then decided to flip it and be neither. It just didn't work. The ending wasn't explained well, but I figured the old man messed with her phone and was the killer at the end too. The director probably figured everyone would just get it .

Um, so the old man just happens to 'materialize' and kill her? Give me a break - this film completely sucked on every level (except the lead actress who did a fine job and bonus was hot as hell)
