old movie

Could have been fun twenty years ago, but looks a little cheap today, both story and filming.I guess that's what makes the difference between a good or a bad movie.
Also, an impolite copy of "The Last Man on Earth" or "The Omega Man"...
(and yes, there's already the horrible Eric Serra and his keyboards on the whole soundtrack!)

the "cheap" I meaned as nothing to to do with the budget! But all the rest...

So Is The Godfather from beginning of 70s cheap to you, try to find the DVD version, it will blow away all your comments, as good as Big Blue image quality! Ok not quite, but not bad either!!

try to learn meaning of cheap, before you become cheap.

A film is only as good as its idea, and its that which should be seen as its marker against the test of time, and I think this, a DEBUT feature, succeeds admirably.
I guess I'm biased in fvaour of intriguing and quirky films rather than 'expensive' looking, albeit often inferior, films. Even Besson's big budgets tend to lean towards the unusual, Fifth Element being a clear example.

I do agree that the music is shocking though! That is the only aspect which dates it.

Um, you know "The Last Man on Earth" and "The Omega Man" didn't invent the postapocalyptic genre...

And which are both *beep*

Which are both adaptations of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend"... so if you're citing those as the originators, you need to look further back. As the last message states, neither those films, nor Mr. Matheson, originated the genre. There isn't much that's completely original these days, so you can't really look at what is being told, but at how it is being told. And in the case of this movie, I think it's quite sublime.

If you think Eric Serra is a poor composer - listen to the soundtracks for the films 'Leon' (aka 'The Professional') and 'The fifth element'.
Superb.

Agreed, some of the music was a bit awful, but there were some nice atmospheric synth tunes buried in the film elsewhere (just that jazz funk nonsense was unnecessary).... all things considered, I think it makes an excellent film debut!.... But I'm biased due to my fascination with these post-apocalyptic genre films, there are some truly awful ones out there, this is one of the few good ones.

What's funny is that the choice to film in B/W actually makes the film look modern and never once feel cheap. It actually extends the appeal of the film, in my argument.

And yeah, The Omega Man, while enjoyable, certainly looks dated and cheap by today's standards.
