Music?

I loved Le Dernier Combat. And I loved the music.

So, can someone please tell me where I can find the songs in it? Particularly the theme from the climactic fight sequence.

reply

i only know that musics by Eric Serra.. i dont know individual song names sorry..

the song when he's flying in the plane is really good.

i wish i could find it.

I thought that the choice of music for the climatic fight sequence was rather odd. The music sounded like something you would hear in an action comedy marketed towards 12 year olds. I would have gone with something more dramatic to create a more sinister mood.

The song for the flight sequence is called Envol, if that helps those searching. Sadly, the soundtrack seems to be discontinued and most compilations of Serra's music don't seem to include it.

wow I had the exact opposite opinion on the music in fact assumed I would come here and find poeple commenting negatively on the music. The movie was excellent but the music was too loud, it needed to be more sublte and more consistent. There was music that sounded like Miles Davis, then music where I thought Barry Manilow was going to break oput singing, and electronic music and all other sorts. I thought the film was very good despite the music.

I agree the music was odd but it certainly lends a unique mood and why not? I'll tell you that I made it through 1000's of movies and have what I call a 'feel' for certain genres and this one (post-apocalyptic) has all kinds of groan-heavy trash. The fact that the music is odd didn't make it less refreshing, certainly not what I expected. Oh, obviously I thought the movie was good, that is given. I think the very first thought was "Luc Besson=5th Element=stylish, decadent, kind of girly, whatever but DEFINITELY FRENCH!" and I was like, yeah, this music fits this guy's vision. Eh, I'll be re-watching this for serious, its a no brainer.

Im one of those who didnt really like the music that much, i remember seeing this movie sometime back in the 80:s, what i remember from that time was the gritty black and white footage, the lack of dialog, and that sureal unerving feeling from the whole experience.
And now ive seen it again, the movie was all that i remembered, except for the music part, and dont know why but to me it reminded me of childrens programs when i was growing up ( im born in the 70:s ).
What i wonder is if its just the time period, or if Luc besson as it is his first movie couldnt find other music for it.
Its all upbeat and almost jolly, it certainly lends a special feeling to the movie, and is a real contrast to the grim world we are presented with.

I loved the music. I have the soundtrack on my PC. Also check out Serra's work on Kamikaze, another cool French sci-fi movie.
