Best Stephen King film adaption

This was the best Stephen King film adaption, best Christopher Walken performance and best David Cronenberg film. Excellent cast with special mention to Tom Skerritt, Nicholas Campbell, Colleen Dewhurst and Martin Sheen. Excellent photography and atmosphere.

It's a long time since I read the book, but when the film came out I remember being happy with the adaptation. For once, it seemed like the scriptwriters and casting director had actually read the book, the film was based on.

reply

I agree..
well done...

and Walken was great..

reply

Totally agree on all accounts.

reply

Agree on all counts as well what a great movie it is.

I wish there had bern something about his childhood like in the book, but I see it wasn't neccesarh. I agree it is one of the best adaptations of King, but nothing can replace the book.

reply

Green mile is also excellent

reply

Not even a top 5 movies of cronenberg. I watched this movie just recently and thought "this crap got to be based on some overrated King novel". When like the third pointless sub plot kicks in and all the other king cliches. And ofc it was.
Only truly great King novel based movie is the shining. Only one where director was smart enough to discard all the king bs. No wonder he was pissed off.

reply

You're all wrong, the best was "It."

reply

No, no, no! Whoever cast the movie and wrote the screenplay screwed it ALL up.

reply

For me, it's a tie between Shawshank Redemption and The Shining.

The winner is ... Shawshank.

Specifically because of significantly diverted from the original script (alcoholism). And Shawshank is something everyone can enjoy.

reply

Shawshank and the Shining were excellent but Stand By Me has got to be the ultimate King movie.

reply

C'mon guys........."Misery"!
