The most unsettling scene

I thought the creepiest scene was seeing Jason Robards dying of radiation poisoning and muttering “I’d like to see my home one last time before I die.” Except home was nothing but a flattened vista of rubble and sand baking in the sun. The New Stone Age.

This movie was pretty disturbing at the time, and still is somewhat. There was violence on TV then, but it was usually pretty cartoonish, A-Team type stuff. A lot of shooting but people rarely got hit and there was never much blood.

The dad who is gunned down near the end of the movie by the gang of bandits is another one that got to me. They were so calm and businesslike about it. You could tell they'd done it before, quite a bit.
