And then there's the thing about it not being similar to Airplane in any meaningful way. Find a taxi movie based on sight gags and we'll talk.

C'mon man. This movie was almost as good as Doctor Detroit!

DC Cab could be looked at as a spiritual successor to Car Wash. It makes sense since Joel Schumacher wrote the screenplay for Car Wash and would later direct DC Cab.

I don't think the OP ever saw the movie. D.C. Cab is nothing like airplane. And it has a coherent story more like a dramedy than pure slapstick of Airplane.

Other than both movies featuring vehicles that carry passengers, there are no similarities.
