What became of Princess Dala?

Does anyone know what happened to Princess Dala? We know rebels staged a bloodless coup and took control of her country and that she ended up "surrendering" the Pink Panther to the new regime. Anyone know what happened to her after that?

My theory: She murdered Maria Gambrelli and assumed her idenity, and it's her actually Dala that we see in Son of the Pink Panther, not Gambrelli.
