why the low rating?
this is a great film, one of the few comedys in my dvd collection. why have people given it such a low rating?

that's a bit harsh... have you seen it? or are you just assuming? if you've seen it, why do you think it's bad?
shareI've seen it. And it's bad for many reasons. None of the key performances are very good. The Bisset character would never for a second fall in love with the Andrew McCarthy character unless she was mentally ill, which she does not seem to be. Rob Lowe gives the sort of self-consciously smarmy performance that he always gave at this stage of his career ... wallowing in his own coolness. There's not a believable moment in the film. It was (and remains) teen sexploitative crap.
Sorry.
My two cents.
She was mentally ill. You might remember that she went "to get help" at the end.
