Never seen them.

The only other film I saw was My Summer Story, and it's actually a great film if you can look past the total recast (except Miss Shields). It has much of the charm of the Christmas movie. When my two boys were young I bought it for them on VHS, and they played the snot out of that tape.

"All have Jean Shepheard narrating except A Christmas Story 2 and A Christmas Story Live!."

We gave up on Live! after about a half hour and watched our bluray of the real thing. :-)

A CHRISTMAS STORY 2 OVER MY SUMMER STORY...THIS WHOLE POST IS FLAWED.🤔

"Although billed as an "official sequel" in the trailer, the film is not directly based on Jean Shepherd's writings, instead relying on an original script by Nat Mauldin, who also narrates the movie in place of the late Shepherd."

THATS MY PROBLEM WITH 2.

Recasts are always tough. But I can't disagree with your assessment of Charles Grodin as the Old Man. But to be fair, I don't know if I would have been happier with anyone else. Too bad this movie couldn't have been shot within a year or so of A Christmas Story when the original cast could have been used.

Nevertheless, I like My Summer Story and think it does a great job paying homage to A Christmas Story.
