How did you first discover this movie?

I've first discovered this movie on TBS during the part where Ralphie's mother punishes him by sending him to bed and her yelling at him not to give her that look

It's been a family favorite since it was release on home video...I was born a couple years after it was released and my first few viewings were on our old Betamax :)

What was it like watching this movie in the theaters?

My sister-in-law dragged me to a theater to see it when it was a new movie.

Hbo. The one year I lived in the snow it just seemed to fit that Christmas so perfectly. Mid 80s.

It had been out a couple of year before I saw it. A friend raved about it and said I had to see it. And I was glad I did.

Part of the TBS marathon, but the earliest memory I have of watching this on Christmas Morning would be 92-93 so it had been around for awhile.

On cable in the mid-80's. I don't even remember it coming to theaters, sort of like The Princess Bride. But by about 1987, my brother and parents and friends were all big Christmas Story fans, and looked forward to it every year (no marathon yet, you just had to catch a showing).

I never had it on VHS, so I picked up the DVD about 8 years ago because my wife and I like to watch it on Black Friday and eat leftovers while everyone is out doing the shopping craziness thing.

I was visiting my father in California back in the summer of 1989. He was a music teacher and was teaching summer school. I was at home glipping through the channels and ran across this on HBO. I've been hooked on it ever since!
