One great giallo!

What do you think about this masterwork? Lamberto Bava has really made this movie Perfect! The acting is also good, something you wouldnt expect from an Italian horror flick from the 80's. But i like it. And Occhipinti is as good as always. The music you must agree with me, is perfect. Oh, what a good soundtrack.

I also mean that this movie proves that Lamberto is a better director than his father, Mario. Yes, i know about some very good movies from Mario, but he just can't beat his son. But they're both great, love them both.

But back to the point. What do you think about this movie? It's music and acting?

You are totally correct my friend! A Blade in the Dark is truly a masterful slasher film. The acting is well-done, the music is wonderful, and the movie itself is quite gripping. It's films like this that really put so many others of its genre to shame, in fact I'm even thinking twice about refering to this film as a "slasher" movie.

I also enjoy the works of Mario Bava, especially the classic Bay of Blood, but Lamberto is an awesome film maker as well. His debut film Macabre remains a favorite.

It's directors like these that make film into a true art!

I don't know why people here consider this to be the work of a master. I got interested in Italian cinema through the works of MARIO Bava and Argento. So I thought, cool, Italian movies do have something to offer. And seeing the ratings of Demons (Demoni) & this turkey here, I thought they would even surpass Argento's newer works which are usually rated around the 5.0 line. Could I have been more wrong???

Gosh, NO!

From the sloppy editing (I really hate sound jumps... in one scene you have the music playing loud and strong and then it ends abruptly and we switch to another scene), down to the cheap looks of those movies. It doesn't seem as if much effort was put into them, no love. Seriously, it is hard for me not to fall asleep when I put on those DVDs. And the worst thing is, having slept through half of those and catching only the beginning and the end, it doesn't seem that I missed anything important which should tell you a lot.

I love horror, I love gore, thrillers... but those movies stink. There is nothing interesting to be found here. Masterpiece, yeah, sure.

Look, just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you have to be rude about it.

Why are you reading my signature?

And what if his opinion about the movie is rude? =)

I completely agree with you on the sound jumps; although I find them more humourous than annoying. But as for the flick, I quite liked it.

I need to watch this one again. To be honest, i didn't think it was all that great... but the nuances of these films reveal themselves over time, so i wouldn't be surprised to find myself loving the heck out of it the next time i watch it [ For example, i hated Michele Soavi's The Church upon the first few viewings but now i think it's excellent ].

The bathroom scene *WAS* brutal, and the film as a whole possesses a brooding atmosphere. Another plus is that Lamberto Bava's films I've seen [ Macabre, A Blade In The Dark, Demons ] all carry a personalized feel and style. His work should be unmistakable to anyone seriously interested in Italian gialli/horror/exploitation.

I thought this was a pleasingly gory and nasty little giallo. The murder set pieces were shockingly brutal, plus the ending was truly startling and the supporting cast of hot young babes was total tasty eye candy all the way. Excellent score and polished cinematography, too.
