Hi Satamo, as you've now found out it's called 'Opening' by Philip Glass. That track can be found on his album 'Glassworks' where it's the first track. The last Track is called 'Closing' and is variation of Opening. Both are excellent. The album is available at Amazon for instance.

I too was haunted by this track track until one day I was driving and heard it on the radio, I nearly ran off the road (this was before Google) I immediately pulled over and rang the radio station to find out who it was and had it ordered in ! <g>

All the music in the film is excellent ... and quite eclectic. From the classical type strains of Glass and Brian Eno to Link Wray, to King Sunny Ade , to legendary LA band 'X' who do the great punk version of Jerry Lee Lewis's 'Breathless' which of course bookends the film because Jesse is playing that in the Porche before all the trouble starts.

As detailed in another thread, it turns out this is in Tarantino's Top Ten favourite flicks. Especially after his later work like Deathproof, you can see the thematic link.

I think Tarantino also took a lot from this movie, for the way he famously obsesses over what music goes with what scenes. I recall an interview whereby he said he has his ideas of music for a given scene before he even has dialogue. I'm not saying he got that from Breathless, but you can bet he loved the soundtrack.

IMDB has a full track listing for the soundtrack http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085276/soundtrack

Until Miller's Crossing knocked it into #2, this was my #1 movie ever since I caught it on VHS way back when first released ... unfortunately I missed it on the big screen.
