James Horner's Score

Very sad news about Mr. Horner's tragic death. His haunting score for "Brainstorm" is one of my favorites. It is often overlooked and rarely mentioned whenever his compositions are listed in articles.

Haunting is the perfect word to describe Horner's beautiful score. Especially knowing that Natalie Wood died tragically while filming this awesome movie. It still gives me goosebumps every time I see it. Rest in peace maestro James Horner!

It's one of the best original scores of the last half century. The guy was compelled by his own muse. Brainstorm is derivative of nothing--not like so many crap scores these days, all imitating one another.

I think it's Horner's best score.

Horner was often (unfairly) trashed for creating similar sounding scores, but he was definitely capable of brilliance, and this score one of his best.

Amazing factoid is he was about 28 when he wrote it.
