Finally saw the original 1983 version on VHS

Always loved the very first film from 1980 so I finally ponied up $5 on Ebay for the sequel from 1983 on VCII vhs. I gotta say - it's very entertaining! I wonder why this version didn't make it to DVD a few years ago. There are plenty of oddball moments, but in the world of THE BOOGEYMAN, it's a given. And, no one has mentioned, Suzanna Love is an absolutely beautiful woman. She is gorgeous here. The only drawback is that there is less here of her than you would expect since the film is liberally padded with scenes from the 1980 film.
Anyway, her character is in Hollywood now shmoozing with the Hollywood players who are optioning turning her story into a film. Some of them are scarier than the Boogeyman!
It's sad that this film relies so heavily on full sequences from the original since it would have been great if this were more of a stand-alone film. There are some good ideas floating around but they're never fully realized.
Death by electic toothbrush...now THAT'S still not been done again!

The original uncut version did make it to DVD. It was released by a company called Gemstone Entertainment. It is not altered in any way like Image's "Director's Cut". Here's a link to it:

Are any of the neat deaths (like the 'toothbrush scene') in the so-called "Director's cut." I'm watching it now and I want to know if it's worth finishing.
