WANTED: More Robbe-Grillet films

My eyes just about popped out of my skull when I saw LA BELLE CAPTIVE sitting on the shelf of the local video store. I've been pining away for literally decades awaiting the availability of Robbe-Grillet's work on DVD. I had heard he prefers for his films to play the big screen, so outside of some fringe arthouse revival, my chances of seeing such alluring prospects as PROGRESSIVE SLIDINGS INTO PLEASURE and EDEN AND AFTER are slim indeed. It was evident from LA BELLE CAPTIVE, that Robbe-Grillet is a masterful filmmaker as well as novelist, whose surreal tableaux suggests Bunuel and Lynch, and whose style does not seem dated at all 25 years later after its release. If anyone has leads as to future release dates for his other films, please fill in the gaps.

Why nobody talking about the Blue Villa?????

i bought a home made dvd of a really bad transfer of EDEN ET APRES off ebay, worth seeing but not as tight as LA BELLE CAPTIVE. I also dl L'Imortelle from the internet, this is ok quality and the film is a much more ambitious in its scope than LAST YEAR IN MAREINBAD, with clearly more Robbe-Grillet themes (secret networks, women being used for strange sexual trade, etc.)

AR-G is a master. Its a shame his films dont have one tenth the exposure as his novels. And I totally agree about the refference to Lynch.

My own thoughts on La Belle Captive are that it starts as a promising modern noir but quickly transforms into a complex and uninspiring mess.
