A great kung fu film but slightly overrated

It is praised the "GREAT MARTIAL ARTS FILM OF ALL TIME". The wing chun was excellent and Lam Ching-Ying really steals the show. The day the world lost him was a sad day especially for Kung Fu cinema. The comedy was great to. I am really into Sammo's humour. I kinda feel that what the movie needed was higher stakes and longer fight scenes. The Yuen Biao/Franky Chan fight was awesome(gotta love that headbutt) but was way too short. Yuen Biao is one of my favourite kung fu actioners but he really doesn't command the screen here like most of his films. He is known as somewhat of a scene stealer in pretty much all of Sammo Hungs movies. Warriors Two(the previous Wing Chun Sammo Hung film) featured incredible fight scenes. Even Leung Kar-Yan who is not really known all that well as a martial artist was good. I like Warriors Two a lot better. Don't get me wrong I love this movie but could have been so much more.

I agree about the higher stakes. Frankie Chan is just a guy who enjoys a fight! Hardly a worthy final foe for Yuen Biao.

And the film needed more Sammo Hung! I couldn't believe that his character was only introduced beyond the half way mark.
