Origin of Ryu?

The end scene, the kid is wearing everything identical to Ryu from street fighter. the video game was made in 1987... 6 years after prodigal son. did street fighter take the idea of ryu from this movie? when he finishes off the nemesis in the end, his dialogue with the combination punches was very similar to an old school video game.
