Different Versions ... different lengths

Originally this was a made for TV Mini-series that was played over 3 nights in Europe. See here ...

Part 1: 1939-1943 ('To my mother and brothers') 140 minutes
Part2: 1943-1959 ('To my father and friends') 139 minutes
Part3: 1959- 1979 ('To my people') 95minutes
Total runtime: 374 minutes (6 hours 14 mins)

This comes from the following website ... http://www.raretvondvd.com/?Page_ID=3610&id=8727 ... where they sell it in NTSC format (region free)

There was also a much shorter version (145 mins) that was released theatrically in France. This is the version that IMDB and Wikipedia reference.

It does not appear that either version has ever been released on DVD in the US. Let's hope they do ... perhaps in both versions ... perhaps with subtitles!!!

BTW ... I saw the long version (6:14) on Youtube and it is way to long. Meanwhile I cannot imagine how you could cut this down to 2:25. That is a lot of cutting of good stuff!
