Wouldn't an Ator 4 DVD box set be great?

I've always found all four Ator movies to be great B-Movie cheese and it's a shame these movies haven't been properly released on DVD. Sure they're far from art but these are great for B-movie fantics. Ator, the Fighting Eagle got released on DVD by Legacy Entertainment but its a poor transfer from tape. Many moments in the film are shacky and the movie even turns black and white for a short while. A terrible DVD release. I wish a company like Blue-Underground entertainment would pick up all four Ator films and release them in a box set. They did a fantastic job with the Blind Dead quadrilogy. I know there wouldn't be a high demand for the Ator films but again there wasn't a high demand for the Blind Dead films either. I'm not asking for lots of special features...I just want these films on DVD and have them with at least watchable quality. Hopefully it will happen some day...

Given the sort of movies Troma has released that fall into the S&S category (Wizards of the Demonword, Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell, &tc) it does boggle the mind that no one has picked up the Ator movies for DVD release.

Actually considering the various versions released to VHS in the past it seems rather odd. Perhaps something is amiss with securing the rights/finding out who actually holds the rights to these films?

Still it would be nice to see the Ator films given the Blue Underground treatment; assuming anyone bothered to save any of the original film elements.

I'm glad some other people out there want these films released to DVD! The Ator films are just fun for their sheer stupidity! I would be all over a box set of these films! The Legacy Enterainment DVD release of the first Ator movie did suck!!

Can anyone please let me know what the four Ator movies are? As they're directed and written by different people it's hard to track them down by director/writer/stars - it seems that Miles O'Keefe didn't return for the fourth film.

1) Ator l'invincibile (1982)
2) Ator l'invincibile 2 (Blade Warrior) (1984)
3) Iron Warrior (1987)
4) ???

Thanks a lot!!

1) Ator, The Fighting Eagle (Ator l'invincibile)
2) The Blade Master (Ator l'invincibile 2, Cave Dwellers)
3) Iron Warrior
4) The Quest for the Mighty Sword

Schlock director Joe D'Amato directed the first two films and left the series for the third film. Director Alfonso Brescia takes a new direction for the Ator character for the third film. Even though Miles O'Keeffe returns the Ator character has changed dramatically. Joe D'Amato was upset with the third film so he returned for the fourth film The Quest for the Mighty Sword (aka Ator III: The Hobgoblin, further showing how upset Joe was with Iron Warrior). Sadly Miles O'Keeffe did not return (Eric Allan Kramer this time plays Ator). The plot for the fourth film is almost identical to the original and it is sometimes refered to as a remake.

Here is a link for the fourth film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100448/

A box set would be a great idea. I've heard that the U.S. dvd release of Ator, called "Ator, The Fighting Eagle" is actually cut. Some guy on amazon.com talks in more detail about that. I found "The Blade Master" in a dvd set called "Swords and Sorcery". Now, I know MST3K did an episode on its other title, "Cave Dwellers" but I'd prefer to make fun of it myself. The other two, Iron Warrior and The Quest for the Mighty Sword, I'll probably have to pick those up on videoscreams.com or some other dvd-r company.

With the amount of attention Joe D'Amato's movies are getting these days (not to mention the evergrowing fanbase of Troll 2), I'm surprised a box set hasn't been released yet.

Question: Wouldn't an Ator 4 DVD box set be great?

Answer: Yes, yes it would.

I AGREE!

Yes!!!!! An Ator box set would be great. These are some of the Best if not the best sword fighting action adventure movies but out by Joe D'Amato in my mind.

Ator - The Fighting Eagle has been released onto DVD but in sadly cut of all its blood and little gore that it had.

Ator - The Blade Master can be bout as well on DVD in the Swords and Sorcery DVD box set off amazon.com for around 5 or 6 dollars.

Ator 3: Quest for the Mighty Sword that I know has never seen the lite of day for a DVD release except for a DVD-r copy someone made.

Ator - The iron Warrior s also one of those rare movies that has never been released onto DVD except for on DVD-r.

Doesn't anyone think these movies are cool?

It's been nearly 6 years since you posted this---and there seems to be NO HOPE that the "ATOR" films will get a proper release!

The first Ator movie is set to be released on DVD from Scorpion, as part of their Katarina's Kat Scratch Cinema collection, this June!

Don't expect Scorpion to release the other 3 though, since New Line has the rights to part 2 (The Blade Master) and MGM has the rights to parts 3 and 4 (Iron Warrior and Quest for the Mighty Sword).

UPDATE: With MGM licensing out some of their titles to Scorpion as of currently, we could probably expect the third and fourth Ator movie to be acquired by them soon. But I still wouldn't hold my breath for them to acquire The Blade Master, since that's with New Line/Warner, and based on what I've deduced, so far, it's either Warner that releases it, or no one.

as a fan of the first film and as someone has never seen 2, 3 ,4 i'd welcome a box.
