The dad didn't seem that involved did he?

A man dies in his house, his partner dies, his daughter dies, bad plumbing, elevator mishap, evil jacuzzi in the basement. Maybe after the house blows itself apart in the end he finally breaks down and cries.

You have to remember that he was a skeptic when it came to the paranormal. He was unsettled some by Mr. Saunders' death, but he thought it nothing more than the guy's bad health. He wrote off the elevator incident as a freak accident. When Melanie died, he thought it was just a car wreck. He was upset, but I think it was clouded over by his soon-to-be ex-wife arguing with him about their daughter not going back to that house. When Susan drowned, he was upset, especially by Nancy's insisting that Susan was still alive.

But yet he takes it pretty well considering all that. I know the character was written to be pretty skeptical but there's a point when it just becomes rediculous.

I agree that John is just too much of a skeptic. And nothing really bothers him. I want whatever he was on! lol j/k

I found it odd too that Melanie was so quick to become superstitious and scared when she worked for the same skeptic magazine that John did.

Overall all characters were just poorly written, and yeah I agree the father was over-skeptic. Most of scenes were trash. Really bad movie.

Actress that played Melanie was super-bad, even for tv-movie standards.
