Why was Adam filmed in Houston, Texas and not Hollywood, Florida

who knows. maybe it could have caused bad publicity for the actual mall.

That mall is an eye-sore now. But back then, maybe because they mall's owners denied permission?

They probably felt it was a better location.

I realize I am replying to a 4 year old thread, but I figure the main reason is that it probably was in the best interests of the Hollywood Fla community to NOT have it filmed there.

The filming came very soon after that tragic story began and I would expect many in the community would not want to re-live that experience when the initial wounds really had not yet begun to heal.

Yes, the Walsh family and friends had to re-live it (and I cannot imagine how very hard that was, especially to watch the movie the night it aired), but if I recall they were a driving part of the reason the film was made, to further the cause.
