This is the best Post Apocalypse movie ever

I love this movie so much,its not even funny.
My favorite movie is Dawn of the Dead 78 followed by this movie.
And the music is soo kewl,if your into breakdancing and 80's electro music.

I rank the hero Parsifal #2 in my list of the coolest and nicest of all time favorite heroe's,slightly ahead is my #1 hero:Space Pirate Captain Harlock aka Albator the 1978 manga.And just behind are #3 and #4 Peter and Roger from Dawn of the dead 78.

Get this movie,if your like me you will enjoy it more than Escape from New-York and the Mad-Max series even tho its definatly not the same budget,
but nonetheless better than Mad max 1 and 3 for sure.
And for sure the best 80's Italian Post Apocalypse movie of all time.

Although this isn't one of my fave movies ever, I do think it's a very underated film, definitely one of the top ten Post Apocalyptic/Nuclear films of all time. Given the tiny budget, this is a great Post Nuclear film, one that stood out from the crowd, and it was quite a crowd of Post Nuclear films in the 80's!
Although some people say it rips off Escape from New York, I disagree. I'd say it was a heavy influence more than anything. Other influences would be Mad Max, Planet of the Apes and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves! (Yes, you read that correctly) Overall, a very colourful and enjoyable Spaghetti Sci-fi.

The main difference between Persifal,Mad Max and Snake Plistken is that those last two are not really nice guys,only at the end does Max care for others but Snake doesnt,back in those days a anti-hero was a kewl thing for a movie,but today its not IMHO.Thats why i like Persifal more.

I agree that Mad MAx 2 is the epitome of Post Nuke movies because of budget and originality of the theme (Post Nuke) but the story is boring to me,most of the caracters are not interesting aside from Lord Humongus,the feral kid,the mohawk freak and Max,and keep in mind the original Mad Max wasnt soo much Post nuke and its boring when compaired to #2,Mad Max 3 was very boring and so commercial and almost a repeat of the story in #2.
But the story for After the fall of New-York is so original,more original than most story's even by today's standards.I wont ruin it,check it out youl be amased.
Even the Eurak vs U.S. war background story makes alot of sens in todays world,more than ever before.

One thing has to be mentioned when comparing Mad Max (2) and 2019: After the fall of New York, and that's the music. The score in Mad Max 2 was so awful and it was played way too much that it lowers the quality of the whole movie. But in After the fall of New York the score kicks ass!

Couldnt agree with you more,i can even play some of these on the keyboard and ill prob end up doing an original song with some parts of these themes (the melodies or bassline or beats) thrown into the song,more a hommage than a full blown cover of the themes.

I just discovered this gem and I love it. I got the Post-Apocalypse 3 pack DVD set and 2019 was the only film I actually liked. I seriously think it almost matches and beats "Escape from New York" in many ways...It's a classic of the genre all the way.

WARRIORS OF THE WASTELAND = NEW BARBARIANS.

Also, 1990: The Bronx Warriors has a vastly superior sequel, ESCAPE FROM THE BRONX, of which the uncut version stands up well against John Woo movies for violence and slow motion overload.

Another surprisingly good Italian post-nuker is ENDGAME (1983) which takes a little while to get going but is tons of fun through its second half.

Also, there is a semi-sequel / reworking of 2019 AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK called HANDS OF STEEL (1986) by the same crew but with an even LOWER budget and much worse story. Think OVER THE TOP mixed with BLADE RUNNER, but with a lot of UNIVERSAL SOLDIER thrown in... and no budget. Good Claudio Simonetti score though.

The vast majority of the music in AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK is not, original, but Guido and Maurizio De Angelis's supporting score for YOR THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE. Some of the tracks are actually available on the OST from Columbia records (just sift past all the John Scott orchestral tunes).

You can also hear bits of it recycled in Ruggero Deodato's RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS.

Oddly enough the other three Sopkiw movies (DEVILFISH, MASSACRE IN DINOSAUR VALLEY, and BLASTFIGHTER) also use a lot of the same music.

It's certainly the best one I'm familiar with. I haven't seen them all.

It's an excellently directed, shot, and edited movie, and it goes a long way with a very small budget. I really enjoy it. I wouldn't say I like it better than EFNY, but it's a sh!tload of fun for most of the same reasons. And I agree that it's not just a ripoff of either EFNY or the Mad Max movies. Very cool movie all around, implausibilities and all.

I love Mad Max and Escape From New York but this is my favorite. Probably one of the most entertaining films I've seen.

Reminded me of the Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven a little bit too.

Agreed! This is a little gem of a film. It'd be nice to see a good Blu ray release of this with some nice extras and more interviews.
