Wagner

I've just seen the seven hour version of Wagner, written by Charles Wood and directed by Tony Palmer, at the Barbican. It was terrific.

yes, this is an excellent mini series! Wagner's life is fully explored with outstanding performances by all. A masterful biopic, I loved it :)

I totally agree

I agree. It was a fantastic series. I recently rented the dvd, and while I will always love Wagner's music, I certainly have a different opinion of him as a person. . . . selfish, egomaniac, ambitious to the extreme, manipulative, for starters.

Absolutely riveting. But what a horrible person he was.

reply

PLEASE!

"what a horrible person he is portrayed as" you mean. What makes you think this is in any way close to reality? It's a hatchet job on the great man. I am not saying he was an angel by any means, but this portrayal bears no relation to the man's actual character or personality according to accounts of those who actually knew him and worked with him.

The version I downloaded was actually 470 minutes
