Restored version

Here is a new version of this magnificent film. It's put out by a company called Gonzo Multimedia. The DVD is also all region.

It's a much better transfer than the Kultur version, which looked like it was transferred from VHS tapes. It's also in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio, and it's present as a film, not as a TV series, which was Tony Palmer's original intention.

Everything about the "restored" version is different from what's listed here under Technical Specs. Widescreen, not standard format - stereo, not mono - 7 hours & 46 minutes, not 5 hours (U.S.). Caveat emptor when looking at different versions of this film! I think Gonzo's seems authentic (I have it & listening through headphones at least the music sounds great in stereo - however some of the musical soundtrack is not at a consistent speed probably due to the age of the film and/or tape).
