Would you like to see a remake?

It's not really that it's dated, and the acting is good. But wouldn't it be interesting to see a revival of the characters? Maybe a movie this time instead of a series.

NO!!! The great actors made this miniseries. You can't remake magic!

Oops, sorry, didn't realize there's another "remake" thread on the go. Someone mentioned Richard Armitage as Ralph, have to agree. I never liked Rachel Ward as Meggie, sorry, don't see the magic there. Richard Chamberlain was great, but I have a hard time getting lost in the part knowing he's gay. I know that's not right, and as he says it's acting like anything else, but I just can't help thinking he hates touching and kissing her!

Chamberlain and Stanwyck were definitely the best of the bunch in my opinion in spite of his sexual leanings which should not really blight your ability to become absorbed in the role.

I do think a remake is feasible because there were undeniably some VERY large mistakes made in this series. The accents, location and style was ill-fitting. The casting aside from the two I mentioned was frankly diabolical (most notably the vast differences in skin tone and heredity of Meggie). Sadly, this is what happens to a masterpiece when you sell your soul to the movie agents. It was good, don't get me wrong but it could have been made a lot better!

You can remake something that is so terribly flawed. I LOVED it but it could be redone with more authentic characters, locations and bonafide accents. Nobody can deny that aside from character Luke, the other accents were completely messed up and it is a huge distraction, not to mention insulting to Australians lol 👅

IA. For me, it would be hard to recapture the magic again with different actors.

Absolutely! But if they are going to ruin it by speeding through all what makes the story great as they recently did with the movie me before you then I'll pass. A story this great needs to be properly developed and they don't make miniseries anymore :-/

Some of the ideas in it are pretty dated, or at least you don't hear them anymore, and thankfully so. Like Meggie's ideas about other people suffering so she could have fun when in reality there is no connection between them at all.

Remake with Leonardo DiCaprio in the main role. He wouldn't even have to act that much.
