Does the film from this show still exist? Would look great on Blu-Ray.

From the trivia on the IMDB page:

-The original 16mm master negatives for the series are no longer believed to exist, or at least their whereabouts are currently unknown. The distributors only hold 1 inch video transfers taken from the masters and duplicates in the 1980s. This means that there could be some material missing from installments in circulation (the first two episodes are known to be affected by cuts). However, London Weekend Television retain the majority of their 16mm transmission prints which may contain any omitted footage, whilst some effects work and title sequence material (on 35mm film) are known to survive.

Is this true? I'm not calling anyone a liar, but any confirmation would be great. I'm hoping the film stills exists, as this show would probably look great in HD but it would require the film to be possible. If the prints exist, that's great, but it's always a shame when the negative is gone. I'm hoping some sort of film exists for this show.

the original film does exist, and i would also like to see it on blu-ray edition. Where it is i don't know, but i used to have a copy a while ago and am looking for it again.

I'm not calling you a liar, but where did you hear that? I'm just curious, that's all.

Well i've managed to find a VHS format of the movie which SHOULD be of great use to some people who could make a transfer. I'm struggling to find a firm at the moment because i don't know what or who exactly i'm looking for. The copy I have contains the original material from the first 2 episodes.

I think he means "film" as in the original negatives that the series was shot on, rather than a feature-length episode.
