TV 's Original Talent Show?!?!?

Uh, yeah...so what was Ted Mack's Amateur Hour? Granted it was before a lot of people's time, including mine, actually (and there may have been one before that...come to think of it, I've heard references to something called Major Bowe's Talent Show or something and that must've predated Ted Mack) but it is not entirely forgotten! I have nothing against the show, but whoever does their advertising needs to check his tv history.

Actually the first talent show to be broadcast over the air was "Major Bowes' Amateur Hour." And that was in the '30's, before there was something known as television. But when Major Bowes died, Ted Mack took the show to television in the late 40's, where it played for many years under several titles. Probably the best known title being "Ted Mack and the Original Amateur Hour."
