Are you from Canada? 'Cause I haven't seen SCTV on TV since about 2000 when they showed reruns on NBC. And before that I hadn't seen any reruns since the early 90's on Comedy Central.

DVDs Volumes 1 and 2 came out in 2004.

Hey!
"Are you from Canada? 'Cause I haven't seen SCTV on TV since about 2000 when they showed reruns on NBC" - Do you mean Canadian NBC? And does Canada even have an NBC?
I am not sure if Comedy Central was around 20 + years ago, but I swear,
I recorded a LOT of SCTV off a comedy channel (if not THE Com. Chan.) whatever it was, they showed the OLD stuff from 1983 - Jackie Rogers Jr., they also showed a remake of 'Cujo' too! Very funny with Dave Thomas and the chick whom I can't remember.....she acts like a RABID wife, chasing the hubby! LOL - They show the 'Skitter -Ritter' mosquito killer in La. with Dave Thomas & same chick acting like a Southern Belle.....it was SO FUNNY! Plus, Andrea martin & Martin Short doing Edna Boil & "Boil Boy" _ -- does antone else remember this one????

One of the best parts of SCTV then was "Jackie Rogers Jr."!!!!!
I love when he does a re-take of Altamont as Jackie w/ 'Shriners' instead of Bikers!!!

I know you are sad about missing SCTV....but your post is from 2003 - are you still there & wanting?
I recorded a lot of FUNNY SCTV chit off USA tv! Lemme know!

in canada it's on the comedy network 6:30am monday to friday. but that's pretty early.

reply

yea, 6:30 am IS too early to watch an old show BUT, some of those Martin Short characters were funny as hell! Boilboy, Ed Grimley, Jackie Rogers Jr, etc!

I just got into SCTV on the DVD sets and they are way more funnier than SNL in some respects. I believe it is more consistently funny than SNL. They said in the booklet for the vol 1 set that all the seasons will come out. I think they want to start out with the 90 min shows because of challenge then they can get the easy seasons out later

The actor you're talking about flowbeer who plays the rabid wife and the southern belle wife in the skitter ritter sketch is played by actor/writer Valri Bromfield.

From sctvguide.ca
U.S.: Not currently on. Aired on TV Land from March to late fall 2005. NBC aired repeats 1998-2002.

And what I meant from last year saying "I can't wait til' it comes out on DVD" what I meant to say was, I can't wait til' season 6 comes out on DVD(since this is the season 6 forum).

Comedy Central was called the Comedy Channel 20 years ago. And it competed with the Ha Channel at the time. Around 1990 I think the Comedy Channel and Ha went away. In it's place the C channel was started.

I have the video of the first few hours of the C channel. It started with a test pattern!

Soon after the C Chennel started, it changed its name to Comedy Central. It was during this time that they showed the SCTV Cinemax shows. Cinemax called SCTV the "SCTV Channel".

If the sales of the DVD box sets do well enough, the cinemax episodes will come out.

More interestingly, Martin Short had a TV show in the mid or late 90s. That show went through a few reworkings. The last few eps were virtual SCTV eps, and actually pretty great. I caught them by accident because they were being shown at midnight. All SCTV fans should see these episodes.

They're allways YouTube. They show the original stuff in full, not some guy on here trying to sell chopped-up syndicated eps.

They haven't been well and scrapped the DVD thing 2 years ago.

Maybe we'll get to see them somehow. They put a lot *Bleep* on DVD though. Small Wonder is coming out on DVD. I really cannot believe there is a market for that show.

How many did they do on Cinemax? I have two I taped back in 1983 I just found. One was a Christmas Special I forgot they made.
