What Made NNTN Great?

I absolutely loved NNTN. The original cast was the best from 1983 to early 1989, although there would be cast changes as the show went on. There were altogether four men and three women. The men were Stuart Pankin, Danny Breen, Rich Hall, and Mitchell Laurance. The women were Anne Bloom, Lucy Webb, and Audrie Neenan. But by mid-1989, and for at least a year, a rather forgettable and inconsistent cast came on. It really should have worked like SCTV or Monty Python, where there was only one good cast, and no other had to replace it. Lesson - when it was time to move on, just move on, don't outwear the welcome. If there were to be a DVD, which many of us are holding our breath for, please put on only the magnificient original seven and no one else.

Such a great show. I miss it!

What horrible examples.
SCTV replaced Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas and Catherine O'Hara with Martin Short (yay!), Robin Duke (ugh), and Tony Rosato (meh). And John Cleese left Python before the final season.

What made it great? Lack of other media choices, dope and nostalgia.

Not Necessarily The Funny🤮
