Anyone watch the original pilot and its repeat?

I recall that they reshot the pilot with a different actor in it. Simon and Melody were in both but the African American actor was different in both - anyone else remember this? There's no mention of it and I had a discussion with a fan who said they thought something was amiss as well...anyone see both? The pilot in first run and then weeks later - right before it went off the air - a new actor?

As far as I know, the Pilot episode was 'not' shot twice. It's just that a different actor played the character of Tyrone C Earl in the Pilot and in the rest of the series a different actor portrayed him.

I have the Manimal Annual that details everything about the series, and there is no mention in it of the pilot being shot twice with different actors, just that the Tyrone's actor was changed after the pilot.
