After numerous requests this great guy Nick uploaded on his site for a while the 22 tracks from the French "Inspector Gadget" Record. http://www.anime.dds.nl/France/France.htm
His tracks as mentioned on his site are a little mixed up with most having the wrong title so here is the correct order with correct names.
01 - Inspector Gadget 02 - Penny's Theme 03 - Brain the dog - the song 04 - Gadget on mars 05 - Ghost 06 - Mad art in Museum 07 - Gadget in Japan 08 - Chocolate Factory 09 - Rodeo 10 - Mad's Theme 11 - Heroes in African Jungle 12 - Gadget with the Incas 13 - Look Out 14 - Gadget in Trouble 15 - Arabian Desert 16 - Sophisticated Gadget 17 - Train Machine 18 - Kingdom 19 - Car Race 20 - Pharoes 21 - Penny's Theme (instrumental) 22 - English Opening Theme (instrumental)
Thanks for the heads up and for putting the tracks in the correct order. Man the list on the site is a mess! God why can't a COMPLETE collection of the music be released. There are so many cues I'd love to hear in thier entirety.
There are about 2 other Records that were released and I have a track called "Claws Spooky Castle Theme" and It's not on the 22-track record so I'm still trying to figure out where its from. ^_^
Are you sure it's different from the MAD Art Museum track from the French one.
I remember I had a soundrack cassete tape when I was a kid called INSPECTOR GADGET -THE MUSIC
On that soundtrack The Mad Art museum track was called MAD THEME while what is called the MAD THEME on the French record was strangley called MAX'S THEME(!) Typo I guess though the music cue itself I've never heard on the show and have no idea where it's from. Sounds coll though.
Can you put up a link for the Spooky Castle Theme?
Hey, I am surprised that record doesn't have some of the more common music cues used in the show. It usually uses ones for foreign locations or special sequences. Here are the ones I have in mind...
The Gadget theme played on a piano and muted trumpet at a moderately slow pace. At the end, it has a "descending" effect. Used on many episodes, but one example is on "Gadget in Winterland" during the part where Brain dressed as a penguin watches Gadget on a ski lift, whom suspects he's being followed.
A fast-paced cue; it starts out calliope-like, and then it gets a bit more suspensful and the ending part is played on a harpiscord. This was used on a LOT of episodes, including "Monster Lake" when Brain hurries to rescue Gadget, whom runs into the mechanical monster's mouth; "Gadget at the Circus" when Gadget almost puts his head in the lion's mouth; "MAD Trap" when Dr. Claw plans his map and then the Rat enters and Claw gives Rat his assignment; "Basic Training" when the train enters the MAD Headquarters and then the dump truck full of cabbage enters and dumps Gadget into a box; and on "The CooCoo Clock Caper" when Gadget's gadgets go haywire and cause the clock factory to collapse.
This cue plays after something bad has happened or Gadget is about to get into trouble. It is used a LOT, too. It is heard on "Monster Lake" when Gadget crumples up the exploding message and drives off, leaving the message to blow up on the Chief; and on "Gadget at the Circus" when Gadget comes across an elephant and tries to arrest him, and again when Gadget starts his lion act; on "Art Heist" when Gadget is inspecting the closed art museum and comes across that mechanical jester statue; on "Basic Training" when Gadget is sent to deliver the computer parts to Dr. Claw; and on "The CooCoo Clock Caper" after the factory is destroyed and Quimby congragulates Gadget on finding the gold, and then Brain catches a cold.
A variation of the "Penny Theme," played on a French horn with pianos in the background. It is heard on "Gadget at the Circus" when Penny practices juggling; "The Pharoah" when Gadget and Brain are walking around and Brain hears a ghost; and on "Quimby Exchange" when Penny recovers Brain from the sewer and they sneak into a prison; and on "So it is Written" when Penny and Brain in disguise follow Gadget to the lost tomb.
Another variant of the Gadget theme, played on synths and orchestrations, with the Gadget melody carried by high-pitched singing voices, sounding somewhat like monks. It is heard on "The Haunted Castle" when Gadget comes across the MAD Agent impersonating a border guard, and again when they enter the castle and the drawbridge closes; and on "The Ruby" when the robot monks first enter and a tiger falls in love with Brain dressed like a tiger.
Another fast-paced chase, with drumbeats and the theme being carried on a synthesizer. It is heard on "Down on the Farm" when Gadget tries chasing two MAD Agents whom climb up the silo where the missle is; and on "Gadget at the Circus" when Gadget comes down like crazy with his Gadget Copter and causes a net to fly on the MAD Ringmaster and clown; on "Art Heist" when Gadget flies via Gadgetcopter to catch up to the MAD Art thieves, landing on the roof of the twin towers and going over to the Statue of Liberty; and on "The Infiltration" when Gadget comes across Presto-Chango impersonating him and they try to catch each other.
An instrumental version of Brain's song heard on "Haunted Castle" when the crooks/monsters get arrested and Gadget is congragulated; on "Greenfinger" when the evil plants die and they congragulate Gadget and console the old gardner, on "Launch Time" when Gadget talks about breakfast and he burns a grapefruit; and on "The Pharoh" when two MAD agents dressed like Anubis steal the old sarcophogus.
Were these music pieces released on any CDs, records or whatever?
That was really interesting reading your post wile_E2005, There was lots of the music I realized as I watched my dvd episodes, "they need to have tracks available of" and I'm sure you listed alot of them. I wonder if the french series had slightly different versions of the music. Penny's music I belive is identical in both versions but Brain's often sounds different as you mentioned above. I have searched all over and there are only 4 records I believe released of Gadget in France. 2 contain the same tracks, just different Record covers. 1 is a story-record and as far as I know has no songs and the other is the release that has 22 tracks (the ones on the site I linked too) I still am trying to figure out where this Claws Spooky Castle music is from. *sigh* What I do for classic series..lol.
Thank you very much for these (haven't listened to them yet) and for pointing out the correct order. If Nick ever has to take them down I may be able to upload them to my IG site (*maybe*, its a possibility anyways).
